Join us as we "Lean in and Learn" from Kara Hay, President & CEO of Penquis.

Kara Hay is President and CEO of Penquis, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families achieve financial stability through programs and services that improve housing stability, access to transportation, school readiness, and healthy lives. Kara also serves as president of Penquis subsidiaries Rape Response Services, MaineStream Finance, Penquis Development, Inc., Penquis Housing, Inc., and Penquis Mental Health Association. She is a member of the Bangor-area Community Health Leadership Board and Northern Light Acadia Hospital Board of Trustees, and serves as a board and executive committee member for Community Housing Capital, the National NeighborWorks Association, and Alliance for Addiction and Mental Health Services, Maine. Kara is a strong advocate for Maine’s low-income population and a nationally recognized leader in comprehensive community development. She received a 2024 Maryann Hartman Award from the University of Maine, a 2023 National Lyndon Baines Johnson Leadership Award from the National Community Action Partnership, and 2019 and 2017 leadership awards from the National NeighborWorks Association.
