Did you know that fish depend on healthy forest habitats in addition to birds? Come to Fields Pond Audubon Center to learn how to manage your woodland to enhance habitat for breeding birds and fish. This field workshop will be led by Sarah Haggerty and David Lamon from Maine Audubon, and will cover the global importance of Maine’s forests for both breeding birds and native fish, give you an opportunity to conduct a ‘handy habitat assessment’, highlight the importance of protecting shoreland habitat with big old trees and lots of shade, and visit a site that has been restored to enhance fish passage in the Sedgeunkedunk Stream. Open to foresters, forest landowners, loggers, and other interested folks! Wear good walking shoes and bring water, lunch, and your curiosity.
