Fireside Stargazing
Join us for a cozy evening by the fire pits as we sip hot cocoa and tea, explore the night sky through our telescopes, and learn about stars, planets, and constellations. This family-friendly stargazing event is perfect for all ages—come warm up, look up, and enjoy the beauty of the night sky.

Location: Hirundo Wildlife Refuge, Gate 1, 1107 West Old Town Road, Old Town, Maine 04468 (MAPS BELOW), Parker Reed Shelter
How to prepare:
Dress warm! Wear layers! While there are drinks provided including water, tea, and cocoa you are welcome to bring snacks to this event as well. We suggest bringing a headlamp to use while walking between the parking area, bathroom, and program area.
Bathrooms:
There will be an outhouse available during this event. It is ADA accesible. This bathroom has no running water. There are small installed battery lights.
Event Conditions/Accessibility:
This event will occur almost entirely outdoors. Between the Pine Parking Area and the Parker Reed Shelter you will travel a hard packed gravel road. There is a very slight decline and then incline between the parking and the shelter. The Parker Reed Shelter is a large, open space with electricity and heating. There is a short ramp with a 1 ½ inch lip to get inside the 32-inch wide doorway.
*Rain Date: By registering for this event, you acknowledge that in the case of inclement weather, the program may be moved to the designated rain date. Refunds will not be issued if you are unable to attend on the rain date.
