On July 26 in Bangor, the public is invited to play the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Title holder for longest temporary mini golf hole

BANGOR (July 7, 2025) – UScellular is bringing a 507-foot mini golf hole, a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Title holder, to Bangor for the public to play for free. The company is hosting a free event from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26 at Waterfront Park, 80 Front Street in Bangor with the record-holding golf hole and additional family-friendly activities including face painting, a giant puzzle, mural painting, and other larger-than-life games. The “Unplug & Play Day” event is an extension of UScellular’s Built for US campaign to provide tips, resources and experiences to help people connect in real life and have a healthier relationship with technology.

“We welcome the Bangor community to join us and play this record-holding mini golf hole,” said Kyle Burbine, director of sales and operations for UScellular in New England. “We look forward to families and friends coming together to unplug and play and enjoy meaningful time away from our phones.”

The company broke the record on June 21 in Des Moines, Iowa when an adjudicator from Guiness World Records was on-site to take official measurements. The giant mini golf hole was inspired by UScellular’s Board of Connectors, a group comprised of youth from Boys & Girls Clubs and children of UScellular associates, to inspire ways for families to create better digital habits. Earlier this year, they met with UScellular CEO, Laurent “LT” Therivel, and shared their desire to make their favorite places in their communities even better by getting to play larger-than-life games in open spaces, allowing them to have fun away from their screens.

“I can’t wait to see the ideas that we shared come to life,” said Ella, UScellular Board of Connectors member from Maine who will be at the event. “I’m more excited to see how long this hole looks in person and be a part of a Guinness World Records experience.”
