The Courageous Steps Project and Bangor Federal Credit Union Team Up for Annual Back-to-School Drive
July 21, 2025

The Courageous Steps Project and Bangor Federal Credit Union are teaming up to collect school supplies for children in need as they prepare to re-enter the classroom. All Bangor Federal Credit Union locations across Bangor, Brewer, and Ellsworth will be used as collection points from August 4th through August 22nd to aid in meeting new collection goals.
In 2014, the Courageous Steps Project started the Back-To-School Drive with the goal of supporting children in need as they geared up to return to the classroom. They believe that no family or child should have to choose between food and school supplies, and they endeavor to eliminate that choice altogether. To accomplish that goal, the Courageous Steps Project works directly with area educators to ensure that students' needs are met to help support each child's education. Over a decade later, the supply drive is one of the longest running back-to-school programs in the region supporting thousands of children in dozens of schools.
This year, Bangor Federal Credit Union aims to help them in this mission.
Bangor Federal is partnering with the Courageous Steps Project's Back-To-School-Drive aiming to help the organization meet new contribution goals and expand aid to even more schools, and students, in our area. Starting Monday, August 4 th and running until Friday, August 22nd , all Bangor Federal Credit Union locations will act as drop-off points to aid the Courageous Steps Project in collecting, organizing, and distributing back-to-school supplies to area schools. Both the Courageous Steps Project and Bangor Federal Credit Union humbly ask their community to help them set our area students up for success as they return to the classroom by donating much needed school supplies to any one of Bangor Federal Credit Union’s locations in Bangor, Brewer, or Ellsworth. Monetary donations will also be accepted to aid in the purchase of supplies from local retailers.
“With your support, we aim to expand this campaign into more rural schools in Penobscot and Hancock Counties”, says Connor Archer, Founder & Chairman/CEO of the Courageous Steps Project. “For us, it’s all about ensuring that every child has a bright path forward to grow, thrive, and succeed in school and life”. “Giving back to our communities is a big part of our mission”, says Cody Morgan, Marketing Director for Bangor Federal Credit Union. “We aided The Courageous Steps Project’s Back-To-School Drive last year and hope that this partnership helps them reach, and surpass, their goals of collecting the necessary tools for our area students”.
