St. Joseph Healthcare Announces Retirement of President After 14 Years of Leadership
Bangor, Maine, January 9th, 2025 – Mary Prybylo, RN, MSN, FACHE, Senior Vice President of Covenant Health and President of St. Joseph Healthcare, will retire effective May 1, 2025, after 14 years of dedicated service.
During her tenure, Prybylo has demonstrated exceptional leadership, guiding St. Joe's through significant advancements in patient care, particularly in age-friendly care design and collaborative community health initiatives. Her unwavering commitment to the organization's mission and values has impacted both St. Joseph Healthcare and the communities it serves.
Prybylo's legacy includes her instrumental role in establishing the Accountable Care Organization, Community Care Partnership of Maine (CCPM), nearly a decade ago. This successful ACO continues today, reflecting her commitment to collaboration in healthcare. Under her leadership, programs like the Sexual Assault and Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Nursing program were developed, ensuring 24/7 access to specially trained members of nursing staff for victims of violence. These initiatives serve as a testament to her dedication to the underserved and most vulnerable members of the community.
Throughout her career, Prybylo has been recognized for her dedication to nursing and serving vulnerable communities. In 2024, Prybylo was named the recipient of the Phebe Conrey King Access to Healthcare Award by the Maine Public Health Association, recognizing her pivotal role in enhancing healthcare accessibility in Maine.
"I look forward to staying involved and supporting our organization in meaningful ways, particularly through my continued work as the Chief Research and Innovation Officer for our Accountable Care Organization" said Prybylo. "This spring, I will be graduating with my PhD in nursing. Following my retirement, I plan to focus on applying my doctoral research to advancing nursing research and improving care delivery and outcomes for aging patients. While bittersweet to be stepping away from the role of President, I am looking forward to pursuing this next chapter of my career and grateful to have the opportunity to remain connected to St. Joe's through this work."
A community event to celebrate and honor Prybylo's contributions to St. Joseph Healthcare and the community is being planned for the spring of 2025. More details to follow.
