BANGOR, ME – Hollywood Casino is announcing more comedy amid its growing entertainment offerings. There are more comedy shows coming to the casino itself, but also with the Hollywood Casino Ballroom Series at the Cross Insurance Center, and a course on comedy at the casino as well.

“It has been a long time since Bangor has had a regular home for comedy, and we are excited to be changing that conversation,” said Hollywood Casino vice president and general manager, Marc Guastella. “We have made a conscious effort in the past year or so to become more invested in Bangor’s entertainment scene. We are focusing on that not just with events here at the casino, but beyond our own walls and to provide space for folks to learn as well.”

This week begins a six-week stand up comedy course taught by Maine comedians Adam Hatch and Ian Stuart. The course begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, in the Lancaster Room at Hollywood Casino. Registration can be done online by clicking here.

Lancaster Room at Hollywood Casino is also home to the High Stakes House of Comedy, with shows scheduled at a minimum on the last Friday of each month. This Friday features headliner Johnny Ater, and Juston McKinney will be headlining a special show on Thursday, Feb. 5. 

These shows come on the heels of the announcement that James Austin Johnson of Saturday Night Live is bringing his standup show to the Hollywood Casino Ballroom Series at the Cross Insurance Center. Johnson has become known for not just his portrayal of President Donald Trump on SNL, but his additional work on the legendary show combined with a robust standup act, and film and podcast appearances. Tickets for this show go on sale later this week through the Cross Insurance Center box office.

“Everyone likes to laugh,” said Guastella. “We’re proud to be offering more chances for people in Bangor to do so, and a home for comedians known both regionally and nationally to bring that laughter to us.”
