Lived experience influences a career. Benny was born in Congo and emigrated to the US at the age of 12 with her family. Six years after resettling in Texas and entering college, Benny became a US citizen. She applied her lived experience as a social work intern in Kenyawith Jesuit Refugee Services while earning her Bachelor's in Global Health. There she provided refugees with practical support and set up a mentoring program for refugee high school students.

After graduating with her undergraduate degree, she worked as a refugee resettlement program manager. Benny continued to help refugees at Iowa's Bureau of Refugee Services while pursuing her master's in Public Affairs. In this capacity, she helped refugees resettle in the US by assessing their English proficiency and connecting them with employment options.

With a master's degree focusing on public and nonprofit management and experiences working as a refugee resettlement manager and support staff for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Benny is uniquely qualified to help LVB advance its mission.

Please join us in welcoming, Benny.
