Champion the Cure Challenge Offers Hope for the Cancer Community
August 05, 2025

Cancer touches everyone. Whether it’s a neighbor, friend, family member, or colleague, everyone knows someone whose life is forever changed through their cancer journey.
On Saturday, August 16, Champion the Cure Challenge’s 2025 Walk/Cycle/Run event will bring participants together at Lafayette Family Cancer Institute in Brewer to offer hope to families facing cancer and raise critical funds to support treatment and research at Northern Light Cancer Care.
Each year, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center’s largest local fundraiser, Champion the Cure Challenge, helps ensure world-class care remains available locally. This event lifts survivors up and honors those lost by the disease. Adrian Ellingwood, a 14-year-old cancer survivor, plans to take part in Champion the Cure Challenge with his mother, Angela. Adrian says, “It’s a way for our community to help one another and show support for every person facing a cancer diagnosis.”
Folks are encouraged to join the event on August 16 to give back and stay active. Register today to walk, run, or cycle and support friends and loved ones by visiting ctcchallenge.org. Individuals may register between now and the day of the event, but early registrations are recommended.
