Northern Light EMMC Auxiliary to hold Kitchen Tour

October 25, 2021
The Northern Light EMMC Auxiliary is in full swing planning the 16th Kitchen Tour, with a new twist: this year’s tour is virtual and viewers will be able to view it from the comfort of their own home.

The Auxiliary has partnered with WABI and NextHome Experience to showcase six different kitchens…each one with unique features, designs and quality craftsmanship.

This year’s tour has an incredible array of homes and truly showcases the best that the Bangor area has to offer. Featured in the tour are two very different lakeside homes, modern kitchens in Hermon and Brewer, a farmhouse kitchen in Holden and an expansive new home in Hampden. With such a wide array of style, size and location, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy on this tour.

As always, the homes showcase the work of different kitchen designers and contractors in the area. Whether you’re in the midst of planning a remodel or just in the dreaming phase, you’re sure to leave with lots of new ideas.

An addition to this years’ tour: an online Thanksgiving cooking class – Chef Cathy Speronis, owner of A Tasty Adventure, will guide viewers in the preparation of two holiday dishes using locally sourced ingredients.

The Auxiliary was established in 1893. Since its inception the Auxiliary has contributed over 3.9 million dollars to the hospital and its programs, ‘doing good work’, and directly supporting our community. Some of our most recent donations benefiting the community include:
  • $400,000 pledge to the new neonatal intensive care unit
  • $350,000 pledge to the Raish Peavey Haskell Children’s Cancer & Treatment Center fulfilled in 2015
  • $4,000 for nursing scholarships each year
  • $15,139 to Children’s Miracle Network last year to benefit children in eastern and northern Maine
All proceeds from the 2021 Kitchen Tour will support the Auxiliary’s new pledge to support the purchase of Miracle-2, a new neonatal transport ambulance. The team currently transports approximately 120 of the most vulnerable babies annually who need specialized NICU care.
