JOB SUMMARY: The RN will be responsible for the assessment, triage of patient needs and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The RN will need to act a not only as a patient advocate and liaison but must also operate with the understanding that they are working with inexperienced providers and that patient safety is of the utmost priority. RN will need to be actively supportive of the residents and their education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: team leader in office, telephone triage, (after orientation and training), nursing assessment and treatment of acutely ill patients in the office setting, administration of medications to include Immunizations, EKGs, will work extensively with the electronic medical record, and will work closely with a team of certified medical assistants, LPNs, RNs, Case managers and Family Practice Residents and Faculty. Support Family Practice Resident education in the physician practice environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of nursing experience in Family Medicine, Emergency Department or Urgent Care Setting. BLS Certification. IV certification & Glucoscan certification

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Pediatric nursing experience desired. Prior experience in Primary Care setting desired. ACLS optional.

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED: The RN needs to be professional as well as knowledgeable, responsible, and accountable to manage patient care over the continuum and to assist in improving quality, cost, and patient/service satisfaction outcomes. The RN needs excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills; as well as computer literacy including but not limited to the electronic medical record, electronic data entry, keyboarding experience and retrieval and report generation. The RN will need to have basic knowledge of the primary care services and be a resource to a wide patient population base. Leadership experience, demonstrated use of Windows software & flexibility. Keyboarding experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read and speak English fluently. Ability to tolerate extended periods of computer and telephone use.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Office setting, physician offices and clinical settings.
